About Us

On July 22nd, 2015, I was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer. The doctors insisted that I start chemo and radiation to prepare for surgery. When I “ ua ‘ike” (peered) into my “na’au” (guts), where I was told the tumor was, it became clear that conventional medicine was not the best path for my healing, so I began treating this dis-ease with Hawaiian healing arts like pule, ho’oponopono, and aloha. I have faith in my kûpuna and ‘aumakua to provide the most appropriate healing for my soul, whatever form that may take.

Do you need a hug? This blog is my attempt to give a virtual hug to anyone who needs one. GET A HUG NOW. Actually, I’d love to create a community of everyday gurus who uplift, embrace, and inspire each other and everyone around them.

The Dream/Vision

This dream community would look something like this:

  • We are committed to creating peace in our lives, homes, communities, and world. See Bloggers for Peace.
  • We are a community that is devoted to the pursuit of happiness through lovingkindness, gratitude, compassion, and empathy. See 5 Steps to Peaceful Resolution.
  • We strive for happiness regardless of material conditions, relationship status, or past history. Click to Re-hydrate Your Spirit.
  • We share the miracles of everyday life to inspire, instruct, and support others and ourselves. For example, Friends and Enemies.
  • We try to maintain peace of mind, equanimity, and lovingkindess at all times.
  • We try to be open to all points of view.
  • We even try to love our enemies.

Feel free to join our community by clicking on the Free Hugs button in the right hand menu bar.

Hugging Gurus

The Catalyst

My goal is to simply be a catalyst for this blog. In no way, shape, or form do I claim to be a guru of any sort. This blog belongs to anyone who reads, comments, or smiles on the blog.

Pleased to Meet You…

I am a “Manny” for two beautiful sons. I am learning to be thankful for all the miracles that occur everyday. Previously, I was a surfing filmmaker, a college English teacher, and a world traveler.  Having spent time in India with famous gurus, I noticed that many  everyday people, places, and things could be just as powerful as meeting self-realized masters.

Please Share

This blog is a sanctuary for all to share their experiences with their own everyday gurus. Every comment will receive a virtual hug. {{{Hug}}}

  3. This is a beautiful idea…and brings so much joy to my heart that you have helped us all to spread the word of peace to all…peace to ourselves…peace to one another.

  4. Question: I do not know how to attach the BLOGGERS FOR PEACE Icon to my blog. I went to the widget…but I do not know what the URL link is…can you help me? Thank you! Namaste! and Shalom!

      Johann,
      Here are badge instructions:
First, right click on the badge on my site and “save image as…” on your computer.
Next, you need to upload it as an image in your media file as if you were going to put it in a post. I see that you have images on your site, so it is the same process. Go to Dashboard>Media>add new. Upload image from your computer to wordpress–it is probably in your downloads folder.
Then add the “image” widget to your sidebar–dashboard>appearance>widgets>drag image widget to sidebar.
Then you go back to the media and click on edit next to the badge. You will get a “file URL” on the right.
Copy and paste that in your image widget where it says “image URL.”

Let me know if you need any help. {{{hugs}}} Kozo

    Fingers crossed and many thanks

    • Kozo Hattori says:

      Hey Anna,
      No problem. Go to Dashboard>appearance>menus
You can edit menus there. If you don’t have that option, your theme might not support menus, so you might have to change themes.
      Hope that helps,
      {{{Hugs}}} Kozo

  34. So glad to have found your blog Kozo 🙂 What a fantastic idea. I truly believe this is one of the ways to bring the light of peace into the world. Protest can create its own negative energy, we need to start small, with ourselves, our family and friends. When there is enough meeting of minds, of positive energy vibration, the world will change. Darkness cannot exist in the presence of light. Hugs and blessings to you 🙂
