A Six Year Old’s Views on God
While I was driving, my son started talking about how God killed the dinosaurs, so I pulled over and recorded his lecture.
I love the open-mindedness and insight in lines like “God is everywhere, even in your poop and peep” or “God is like a copy, but God’s special.”
Thank you for watching, smiling, and/or sharing.
Do you remember your first thoughts about God? Please share.
Hurrah for such wisdom! π He had me at “dinosaurs”, π
Sorry that my son doesn’t think dinosaurs are the “good animals,” Rara, but in his defense, he hasn’t met you in person yet. haha. {{{hugs]}} Kozo
That’s alright, he did say the “good ones” were allowed to stay… so I must have sneaked by! π
Great Post! I have 4 and 6 year old nieces that I spent a lot of time with. I’m always amazed when talking to them about how much they understand and the way they perceive the world around them…
Priceless! “God is in your heart and is your heart.” I loved when your son said that, because, just like our kids are our hearts so are we to God. So young and wise! Ooooh please thank him for finally solving the mystery as to why the earth spins so slow! TOO cute! and how hold is he?!??? Thank you for the smiles, what a great way to start my day!
Haha, yeah, M, I don’t know where he came up with the earth spinning slow idea, but I love how he says that we are draining God’s energy with electricity. I might have to use that against him when he won’t get off the iPad. haha. I love what you say about “our kids are our hearts so are we to God.” Sounds like you and my son need to get together and write a post for everydaygurus. π {{{Hugs]}} Kozo
You learn something new every day, must remember to wave at my poo and wee before flushing from now on π
Your kids are just too cute for words!
LOL, Sista. Yes, if God is in everything, then that means everything. Thanks for watching. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo
Turns out i saw a lot of ‘God’ last week, maybe you’d like to share this with your sons?

A born philosopher and mystic! His knowledge is quite profound for a 6-year-old. His ideas of rockets, energy, space, dinosaurs, oneness; he may not fully comprehend all of this subjects, but he will some day and it will seem innate and intuitive.
Your fatherhood reminds me so much of Teach Your Children by Crosby, Still & Nash. This song I dedicate to you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztVaqZajq-I
Love this song, Niko. Thank you for the gift this morning. Yes, my son has a little “somethin, somethin.” I have to remind myself of how sensitive he is, especially when I’m yelling at him to score goals in soccer. π¦
Would love for him to spend some time in the woods with you someday. {{{hugs}}} Kozo
oh, bless your children – thanks for sharing, Kozo. i love when youngsters can articulate as well as your son does. it shows a mind being stimulated with good activity and not like some having only computer/xbox/tv viewing stimulation. it is really sad when you ask a question and all that comes out is gibberish.
thanks for sharing π
Thought you would like this, Sunshine. Children have such a direct connection with God, don’t they? I love when my 3 year old says, “Luv you God.” It sounds so genuine and true. {{{hugs}}} Kozo
Aren’t little people the best? Your son is priceless…..God is in the toilet!!!! too funny!!! xox k.
Thanks, K. Yes little people are the best. I’m writing a post about the innate wisdom of my 3 year old. Seems like the younger you are, the wiser you are. π {{{hugs}}} kozo
Yes for sure… WHAT happens to us as we get older, particularly in our mindset? I think we should all pay close attention to the young ones and we could learn a thing or two. (((warm hugs)))… ps… it is so precious what you have, the time spent with your little boys. just watching that video I melted a bit. They grow so fast. I am so happy you are experiencing what you are…. (( hugs again))). K.
Ha! This is adorable and very insightful, so much to learn from the open minds of the young ones π
Thanks for sharing Kozo! Hugs.
Rohan.
Guess this is what they mean by “beginner’s mind” in Zen, Rohan. By the way, I’m 1/3 through your book, and I am definitely going to give it to my boys when they are old enough to understand sex. {{{hugs]}} kozo
Precious! I hope this goes viral! So wise these little ones.
I had to post this up, Cheryl. It contains too much wisdom for me to understand alone. Even if it doesn’t go viral, I can know that I shared it with others. {{{hugs}}} Kozo
This is wonderful! When I was in high school, we had a teacher who asked us if we believed in God, and everyone said, yes. The he asked if we believed God was everywhere, and we all said, yes. Then he asked if God is in the toilet, and everyone was shocked. But really, if God is everywhere, then of course he’s in our bodily functions and in the toilet. Your son is very wise.
What a subversive high school teacher. π I was just reading an essay about contemplative practices in Christianity, and Richard Rohr said that he finds a place of “undefended knowing” where we don’t judge things as good and bad. Seems like a good place to be. {{{Hugs}}} kozo
Yep, there’s no escaping – he’s everywhere! What a great video. Thanks Kozo for letting us listen in and learn. xoxoxo
Thanks for watching, Grandmalin. Next summer I’m going to send him camping with you to develop his wit and wisdom. π {{{hugs}}} Koz
Love how the interpret what they have been learning.
The funny thing is that we don’t really talk much about dinosaurs, rockets, photocopies, etc. I don’t know where he came up with all these connections, especially the one about the earth spinning so slow. Can’t wait to show him this video when he turns 21. haha. {{{Hugs}}} kozo
There was a lot of truth that Jett spoke of. No wonder why Jesus said to be like the little children because they are so open! They still believe in magic and aren’t scarred yet. I loved this. Thank you for sharing with us all!
Yes, be like the little children. There is so much wisdom in that advice. Thanks for watching, Dianna. {{{Hugs]}} Kozo
That was beautiful, and so are your sons. Thank you so much for sharing that wisdom! From the mouths and hearts of babes!
Much Love, Sandy
Straight from the heart, Sandy. I love how my sons touch their heart when they say they can feel God. I never told my sons that God is in their heart. I like to think that they can actually feel God in their heart before they were told anything about God. {{{Hugs]}} Kozo
I feel so much better now …. Catholic Catechism when I was about 10ish. First question: Where is God? Answer: God is Everywhere. For a week I cried when I went to the bathroom. No kidding.
LOL, Jen. Sorry about that week. Glad you came to peace with God in the bathroom. If we really think about it, the shame of the bathroom comes from society, not God. God loves us no matter what we smell like. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo
True — God knows what we are — He made us this way after all! But it can be a lot for a kid to swallow. o.O
[…] Thank you Kozo, and Jett for sharing your thoughts on God. It was a true pleasure listening to your wisdom! To listen to the pearls of wisdom given by the Hattori family please use this link:Β http://everydaygurus.com/2013/09/15/god-is-in-your-poop-and-pee/ […]
The kid is right!
He definitely has his own views, Perpetua. I love the part about God being a special copy. I have no idea where he got that metaphor from. {{{hugs}}} kozo
Children have brilliant mind. This video is a keeper.
He is exactly how I imagined him to be, Kozo. Such profound knowledge of the world without even fully knowing it yet.
Thank you for sharing this little moment with us. π
This is so wonderful!!! What wisdom from little ones! Thank-you so much for sharing, Kozo!
love

so magical
I look forward to seeing more video of your daughter, Geo Sans. I love the snippets you have put up. I just got on Instagram that allows 15 second videos. Maybe we can let our kids meet in 15 second intervals. haha. {{{hugs}}} Kozo
