“No matter who you are, no matter where you are, no matter what your current circumstances, the magic of gratitude will change your entire life.”–Rhonda Byrne
I recently did all the exercises in Rhonda Byrne’s book The Magic, including writing down ten things to be thankful for everyday for 28 days and reading the entire list everyday. By the 28th day the list had 280 sentences and took about 25 minutes to read out loud. This exercise changed my perspective, my thoughts, and my life. After I finished the 28th day, I was relieved and saddened that the 25 minute daily ritual was over. I knew I should continue the practice, but it seemed like a lot of work.
Then I stumbled upon iRuniBreathe’s blog. She listed 5 things to be grateful for on the sidebar of her blog everyday, archived the list daily, and posted them at the end of the month. Truth be told iRuniBreathe got the idea from Writing Ruth.
This is my archive that I will post at the end of the month. Note that some of the things I am grateful for have not happened yet, but I am creating the reality of them happening through gratitude.
I am posting these bits of gratitude not necessarily for others to read, but to offer them to the Universe. Even if you don’t read the list, you might want to start your own gratitude practice. It has changed my life. Everyday is a miracle when seen through the lens of gratitude.

What a lovely post, and not just because I’m in it 🙂
You’re uplifting Kozo..
Thanks, Annie. I am grateful to have blogger friends like you. Maybe you can give me some advice on how we are suppose to keep posting while doing NaMoWriMo?
My life is crazy Kozo..still reeling from daughter’s diagnosis I found I couldn’t keep writing…tried writing about it and then my laptop died today with both works on it.
Not sure if I’ll start again or not…
My prayers are with you and your daughter, Annie. I don’t know the details, but I hope you are able to breathe.
Breathe in calm, breathe out smile–Thich Nhat Hanh
We are all one, and we are all headed to the same place, just on different timelines.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
thank you /\
Haha, I love the stealing Halloween candy bit. 🙂 and I agree, your positivity is contagious!
Thanks, Dieu. I wish your imagery and word choice was contagious. I could use a strong dose of poetry in my prose.
By the way, did you read the poem Air on freshly pressed. It reminded me of your poetry.
That poem is amazing, and how flattering that it reminds you of my poetry. I wish I could get on Freshly Pressed, but for now I’m working on getting better at writing everyday and hopefully to publish in a poetry magazine one day soon. Thank you for the encouraging words, as always. 🙂
What a wonderful idea…. I love gratitude lists. Just beautiful. Thank you for checking in during the Hurricane… your kind wishes were appreciated! 🙂
Thanks for the comments, Elizabeth. I’m glad you made it through the storm with your smile and positive energy in tact. Tomorrow I’m publishing a new post for all my friends and family on the East Coast–and you are definitely a friend, if not part of my blogging family.
This is fantastic, Kozo! You are such an inspiration! 😀
